We’ve been getting so many product review requests lately, that I frankly can’t keep up with it… which is why I’ve brought on several new staff members to help out.
There’s always more high-profile stuff we would like to get our hands on (and that’s becoming easier and easier), but we’re not starving for product to review…
Which is why is puzzles me when vendors start pulling my chain. I’ve been writing good thorough reviews for a particular company, and every time they have a new product, they say they want the review unit returned. My response is always that if they want a product reviewed, then we keep it in our labs… it all goes back to that effort vs. benefit ratio of doing a review.
We’ve been happily plugging along ever since, until someone from this company emailed me stating that they want the product back. I’ve never had any correspondence with this person before, even when setting up the initial review.
In my opinion, our reviews are some of the best on the ‘net. We take professional-quality photos that rival the PR shots that the companies pay big bucks for. We are also very thorough, and have a wide readership base.
I’m about to tell this vendor to take a hike. It’s not like I asked for their products (although they are pretty good)… they contacted me, and they keep giving stuff to OCmodshop because we do such a good job.
