SteelSeries Introduces the 7G Professional Gaming Keyboard

The SteelSeries 7G keyboard sets a new industry standard for gaming keyboards by allowing users to perform at new levels with advanced key combinations. Utilizing a powerful PS/2 buffer-system created specifically for gaming, the SteelSeries 7G keyboard eliminates “anti-ghosting" by supporting as many simultaneous key press commands as there are keys on the keyboard. What this does, for example, is allow users in a first person shooter game to walk, crouch, aim, fire and check the scoreboard simultaneously. Traditional keyboards do not allow this much functionality all at once. )

But, you want a little more detail, perhaps. Fine, I’ll provide it. Warning: don’t expect me to benchmark this machine. I’ll leave that to the countless others who have already done it. I’m a practical guy. While the benefits that the Vizo Mini Ninja provide aren't as varied as some other coolers, it does do its primary job well. Both the Aerogel Extreme and the Aerogel Extreme Wide have the same features and do a great job of keeping the heat from your notebook from bothering you.

Both versions of the LapDesk are ridged and the Aerogel insulation works very well. I used the LapDesk’s with several notebooks for longer than would normally be comfortable without any issues. I even used a Gateway gaming notebook in my lap for a long time and heat was not an issue. I felt none of the heat form the notebooks through the LapDesk’s." )

USB 2.0 Extension Cable to Cat5e or Cat6 Extender Adapter

" As a computer geek, there have been times, where I needed a long run of USB cable. However, most standard USB cables measure from four to eight feet in length. What if you needed a longer stretch of USB cable? Well, the folks at USBFever have the perfect solution for this dilemma. If you have a spare Cat5e or Cat6 cable lying around, then the USB 2.0 Extension Cable to Cat5e or Cat6 Extender Adapter is the solution to your USB connection problems. This device allows you to create a USB extension cable essentially limited only by the length of the Cat5e or Cat6 cable used. The maximum length is 150 feet, but seriously, if you need to hook up a USB device a 150 feet away, maybe you should not be using that type of device." )

The entire machine is very heavy, not something you will want to carry in a backpack all day for sure. However, if what you are after is a gaming machine that is portable and can be taken to and from the LAN party much easier than a full desktop the Gateway P172X FX is a fantastic option. The price for the Gateway P172X FX is $1,999." )

As a prelude to our full Canon EOS 450D / Digital Rebel XSi review we have just posted our hands-on preview of the 450D. This is the latest in line of the popular 'Digital Rebel series' of compact digital SLRs and features a twelve megapixel CMOS sensor with Live View and dust reduction. Other headline changes include a 3.0" LCD monitor, SD/SDHC storage, High ISO noise reduction and a range of other features handed down from the EOS 40D. Our 'hands-on preview' articles are essentially the first half of a review which will at least give you a taste for the design and operation of the camera, full review to follow within the next two weeks. )

The S100FS offers DSLR-like handling and control with the convenience of a single, built-in lens offering an outstanding range. It is also built around a comparatively large 2/3" sensor and utilizes FujiFilm's Super CCD technology. So do these features, along with film simulation modes that match the results to subject matter, offer a satisfying alternative to the money-pit that DSLR ownership can be? )

This bundle is inexpensive, coming it at under thirty dollars, it includes two retractable cables, one specifically for syncing/charging to/from your PC and one just for charging your phone while you're in your car with the included high power car adapter. All three parts are very well made so they seem as they will last for quite a while, in my time with them I've found them to be very useful and very handy. " )

I simply don't often find that kind of construction in any keyboard, even high end ones. This gamepad does not flex or warp - perfect for all those rough gamers. The outside of the keyboard is covered in rubber, while the surface sports a high-gloss paint job. The keys are matte, and are a cross between laptop and full-size desktop keys - a good cross between portability and usability. The upper buttons offer volume control, a Windows button, and a backlight switch that glistens like shiny chrome. Also in this key group is a K-Lock, which is designed to lock the "push to talk" key in games, and allows for continuous communication while gaming - very cool." )

The keys are all rubberized in a non-slip finish, and illuminate in
blue by default. You can also select no backlighting, which although
looks very sleek, depends on your knowledge of key locations. Since
this is a gaming targeted keyboard, the WASD cluster alone can be lit.
Then there’s the keyboard’s other interesting features. )

"For years now Corsair has been on the forefront of leading
flash drive innovations, which started with their Flash Voyager series
but quickly expanded into their Flash Voyager GT, Flash Survivor GT, and
Flash PadLock series. We've reviewed them all and Corsair has certainly
had some talented engineers working on these products from the Flash
Survivor GT that withstood being submerged into the bottom of a pool,
being boiled in a pot of water, and beaten by a hammer to the Flash
PadLock, which has a physical lock that will present the flash drive
from being mounted unless the appropriate key sequence is entered. While
they continue to face new competition -- primarily from OCZ Technology,
which has many different innovative flash drives as well such as the
Rally 2 Turbo, ATV Turbo, and Mega-Kart -- Corsair Memory continues to
excel and release new flash products. Corsair's latest additions to
their Flash Voyager GT family are 16GB and 32GB editions. At hand today
we are looking at the Corsair Flash Voyager 16GB USB 2.0 flash drive." )

“Canon’s Digital IXUS range is arguable more concerned with style over substance, but frankly it’s not an issue for those who want to capture images quickly and easily. Every Digital IXUS we’ve ever used (we’re still using the Digital IXUS 950 IS) has been a dream to use and produced excellent shots with minimal fuss. The Digital IXUS 90 IS is no different, and although there’s no ground-breaking photographic innovation the build quality is second to none and image quality (both stills and videos) is well above par - images are crisp and colours are accurate, at least at low ISO modes. The only big disappointment is that Canon skimps on memory, providing an almost good for nothing 32MB card. Still, flash memory is cheap these days and you can pick up a good 2GB card for under £10.” )

Ricoh drops resilient G600 into market

Ricoh, living up to its reputation for interesting niche digital cameras, has launched the G600 water and dust resistant model. The G600 is smaller than the 500G Wide it replaces but still offers a versatile 28-140mm equivalent lens with 1cm closest focusing distance. Its rugged casing conforms to all manner of US defense and Japanese standards (including the ability to survive being immersed in water for half an hour), meaning you should never have to worry about carrying it with you. )
