QDOS

1. An acronym for Quick and Dirty Operating System.

2. An operating system originally written by Tim Paterson of Seattle Computer Products.  This operating system was designed for Intel’s 16-bit 8086 CPU and the first version was shipped in August of 1980 and had a development cycle of 6 weeks.  QDOS was purchased by Microsoft and rebranded as MS-DOS 1.0.
