Limerick, Ireland – (July 15, 2011) – Video Game Developer Open Emotion Studios today revealed the details behind the cutting edge soundtrack for its upcoming puzzle platformer PSP Mini, Revoltin’ Youth. Popular chiptune composers, such as Sabrepulse, George and Jonathan and 8BitLegend capture the unique pixel-art style and feel of the game with their audio expertise. Chiptune, also known as chip music, is synthesized electronic music produced with the sound chips of old computers and video game consoles. The Revoltin’ Youth soundtrack makes the most out of this emerging genre by reflecting the three unique personalities of the game’s characters in the music. The audio uses two tracks from Sabrepulse, the theme song and main villains theme, and George and Jonathan – creators of “The Best Music” – lend a feel to the original score that’s a perfect fit for the rest of the game’s soundtrack. 8BitLegends adds two tracks along with all of the sound effects which were made through a Game Boy using LSDJ.
“When the visuals had been designed for Revoltin’ Youth, and I saw the game had this very cool, old school pixilated feel, I knew that chiptune music would be a perfect match,” said Paddy Murphy, CEO of Open Emotion Studios. “Over all, we couldn’t be happier about how the game’s visuals marry up with the audio, and we really hope people who are fans of these artists or this style will pick the game up when it launches later this year.”
Sabrepulse is a London based musician with a passion for creating diverse electronic music using old and new technology. George and Jonathan have been creating “The Best Music” for over five years and 8BitLegend is currently underway recording its first E.P which is expected to be released this summer.
