OpenFeint Focuses on Free-to-Play Gaming with Hire of Facebook Gaming Expert, Ethan Fassett


Former Playdom executive producer to lead product development of next-generation social network with distribution channels for free-to-play developers

BURLINGAME, Calif. – July 7, 2011 – OpenFeint, the largest mobile social gaming network, has seen significant growth since getting acquired by GREE last April– hitting 90 million users and 6,000 games across iOS and Android. Now the company is developing the next generation of its social network as it seeks to add more Facebook and social games. As part of this initiative, OpenFeint has named Playdom ’s former executive producer of its San Francisco studio, Ethan Fassett, to senior vice president of product.

Lead by social gaming giants like CrowdStar and Zynga, more developers are moving to mobile platforms. Rapidly growing with over 90 million users , OpenFeint’s social network will help social developers transition to mobile.

As the SVP of product, Fassett will leverage his free-to-play gaming expertise to grow player engagement through new communication features. He will also drive player acquisition for game developers with distribution tools and programs.

Fassett brings a deep level of social gaming experience to OpenFeint. At Playdom, he drove product strategy for their San Francisco studio, with a focus on player community engagement and monetization. As an executive producer, he successfully launched the retail-themed social game, Market Street, which peaked at one million daily active users.
