Lara Grinds Your Hardware! Tomb Raider: Legend Review (PC and Xbox 360)
OCmodshop :: Sunday, May 28, 2006

What’s that? I’m sorry, you’ll have to speak up. You want me back? You’ll do anything, you say? Well, Tomb Raider, I’m a bit skeptical. You burned me bad. Plot holes, camera issues, a sad lack of tombs—I have not forgotten what you did. I am a fair man, though, and I’ll give you one more chance.

Tomb Raider has a new subtitle, a new developer, and a brand new console to play on, along wit the old favorites. Lara’s adventuring reaches new heights in acrobatic gameplay and graphics, but while generally fun, her latest outing is no Legend.

Check out how Lara can grind your hardware!

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Rocks Your Xbox (and PC too)!
OCmodshop :: Wednesday, May 24, 2006

Classic RPG players, wait no longer! The arrival of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion takes us back to the way role-playing games should be played. The game provides players with many character attributes, tools, weapons, tricks, and quests to choose from. Also, the world map is the most expansive I’ve seen in a long time. As the hours turn to days, gamers will come to appreciate traditional RPG gameplay.

The beginning of the game also serves as a tutorial. However, the tutorial is not complete and many of the controls must be discovered during gameplay. I’ve heard rumors that the Xbox 360 controller is more suited to the game than a keyboard and mouse…

VIZO’s SHE-250 2.5″ hard drive enclosure
OCmodshop :: Tuesday, May 23, 2006

The Shuttle enclosure from VIZO works well, but how long it will work is questionable. The Shuttle model is light, weighing a little over 3 ounces on its own. However, it does not come with some of the nicer features of other VIZO enclosures like one-touch backup or the ability to directly play media files. No, the Shuttle is essentially a large flash drive, for when you need to move files and you need to move them now.

Mod your own USB WoodStick!
OCmodshop :: Sunday, May 21, 2006
On my normal day to day web browsing I came across a news post about wooden USB sticks, I was intrigued by the idea of incorporating wood into a pc and it sure was a fashion statement… As was the price! A 1GB wood stick costs 70 Euros (or about $90 US).

So why not make it yourself for a fraction of the normal costs, all you need is a USB stick and some epoxy glue, that and the gift that nature provided trees? Remember to speak softly and carry a big stick.
We got your wood right here!

Play with your ‘Box for 30 Hours!
OCmodshop :: Saturday, May 20, 2006
If you are like me, you probably really like your wireless 360 controller. It’s spot-on controls and incredibly accurate reactions make it the top tier wireless controller in all of the console games, but if there is one thing that really sucks about it, is the fact that it can really eat up batteries.

I went through two sets of batteries playing Kameo, two sets for Quake 4 and two for Perfect Dark Zero, then I got smart and bought a play and charge kit. What the hell had I been waiting for, this thing was a Godsend. Well to be perfectly honest, I wanted to get one sooner, but I couldn’t find one at any of my local stores, they were about as common as the 360’s themselves. So when I saw that my favorite store (insert shameless plug here) Fred Meyer had gotten it in, I snatched it up quick as I could. And with that I was ushered into a new level of gaming…

Finally! Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children DVD Review
OCmodshop :: Tuesday, May 16, 2006

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is a movie sequel to the game Final Fantasy VII. If you are unfamiliar with FFVII, buy it off of Ebay and spend the twenty hours it takes to beat it. You will be hopelessly lost without the background, and believe me; the movie is well worth the time.

FFVII for the PS1 was a revolutionary game. Although the character models were blocky with spiky hair, the game possessed a story and depth not present in other games at the time. If you ask any Final Fantasy fan what their favorite FF game is, you can bet seven is high on the list. The CG scenes were fantastic, and Sephiroth was really a bad-ass you could be afraid of. Players could firmly believe he was capable of destroying the planet. Also, the characters were believable and the game was actually fun to play. The soundtrack from FFVII has been sought after by musicians everywhere, and if you mention “One Winged Angel” most FFVII geeks immediately start blabbing about the enormity of the final battle. Ontop of all of this, the exploration factor in FFVII is phenomenal and has countless walkthroughs dedicated to finding that one special materia. This game has left a deep impression on its fans and with the arrival of Advent Children many gamer’s dreams have come true.

Genius HP-04D Headphone Review
OCModshop :: Monday, May 08, 2006

Review Quote: “After testing the HP-04D Headphones from Genius we feel that for the price tag they make great all around headphones that do not skip out on quality. There are plenty of other headphones in the price range of these but for the money you would be stupid to turn these bad boys up. They do have there bugs and are a little big but we feel that for the price and the quality you can afford to look a little goofy :) We feel the Genius HP-04D are a must buy item!”
