Introduction

With the quest for newer faster larger memory modules, OCZ produced the 2 GB PC-4000 EB Platinum Dual Channel DDR Kit.  I do have high expectations of this kit being that I am testing it on the DFI LAN party SLI-DR Expert VENUS motherboard.  With the past experiences I have had with OCZ I hope that this one is no different.

First Impressions
The first impression of these modules is that they are beautiful.  The heat spreaders are polished and the OCZ logo is embellished on the side, and have OCZ's trademark weight.  They are not light by any means, and fingerprints will easily show up on these polished plates. My first instincts were to jump right in and just 'clock the snot of of this memory, but I resisted.   Instead I started off slow and easy.

Let’s see if they hold the OCZ reputation. Leaving all mem settings to auto in the bios the mobo recognized the memory timings as 3-3-7-2 vs. the 3-3-8-2 it is advertised.  This just might be a bonus.  Auto voltage defaulted to 2.71v.  Not too shabby.  So for the first step is to see what this stuff will do at 200MHz DDR400.

Below is OCZ's blurb on the PC-4000 EB:
OCZ PC-4000 Platinum 2048MB Dual Channel memory featuring Enhanced Bandwidth Technology allows for improved memory bandwidth and stability over existing PC-4000 1GB modules. For the first time, the OCZ PC-4000 Platinum EB series combines the advantages of high density 1024MB modules with the unparalleled performance advances of low timings, delivering enthusiasts and gamers what they want most from DDR memory—superior performance across the complete array of graphic intensive applications and game titles. Unlike no other 2GB memory solution, this cutting-edge line operates with the extraordinarily fast latency timings of 3-3-2!

Encased in a mirrored platinum copper heatspreader to aid in effective heat dissipation, OCZ PC-4000 Platinum 2GB Dual Channel DDR featuring Enhanced Bandwidth Technology is the fastest PC-4000 1024MB memory on the market.
