Infographic: Video Games and the Demise of Civilization

Do you think that America is in a decline because of the state of the next generation?

Video games started over 30 years ago, but the mass popularity of them has made many kids addicted to them.  Many of the games kids play today aren’t even meant for their audience, such as Mature or Teen games and MMOs, and yet children under 12 are the primary players.

There is also information that suggests a link between kids with ADHD and video games.

The graphic below really makes you think.  While I agree with some of its points, I think the root of the problem is parents that don’t monitor what their kids are doing in the new digital age.

What do you think?  Is the information below accurate or is it just something to ruffle people’s feathers?

Correlation is not causation. This whole graphic makes a LOT of assumptions.

I agree. I spent A LOT of time playing video games when I was growing up. Still do. I have no trouble focusing on a task, I didn't drop out of high school, I still love to read, and I don't have ADHD. There have always been distractions to keep boys from studying. Because we look for them. In the 50's it was cars, in the 70's it was dancing and clubbing. The 90's brought about console gaming as a boom. Heavy metal never shot up a school, and games aren't ruining children. Alan, you are right. It's all in the parenting.
