Going Dark News November 8, 2012

This morning we had a power outage at the OCmodshop offices.  This part of Seattle has a lot of trees, and this time of year gets very windy so you can easily derive what happens frequently in the winter around here.  Power was restored in about an hour, but the sites were still dark because the firewall needed to be rebooted.  Our UPS hung in there, but eventually I had to shut down the main server to save power.

Speaking of going dark, it looks like one of our good friends Elric Phares had his site (motherboards.org) ripped away from him by the parent company (ChannelPro).  After details have been revealed, it looks like the company that bought the site was allegedly embezzling money and when confronted fired Elric.   That’s an example of  why OCmodshop is independently owned and will remain that way.  I already have to answer for enough, but my site is my fortress.
