Shane Kim Interview: Halo 3 , Launch, Stock, Demand
Net4Xbox360 :: Wednesday, March 01, 2006

* Is Halo3 coming out this year?
* Shane Kim: It depends. If it’s the game that everyone is expecting then, yes. For us it’s about making a proper impact on the platform. It has to be something with huge significance, so we won’t be rushed.

* Looking back at the launch, and leaving shortages aside, any regrets?
* Shane Kim: Any game developer will tell you they wish they had more time with the hardware. That’s always the case. If you look at the complexity of this console and you add Live…
With the first generation of Xbox we waited a year before launching Live; this year everything went out together. It would have been better to have more time with the development hardware. But this is not a trivial undertaking. It’s very challenging to create this hardware and a network like this.

* Some have said that the launch lacked a single killer game.
* Shane Kim: I don’t think that’s fair. Everyone is looking for a Halo and a GTA, but we have to realize there are only two of those titles in history, and they weren’t those big legends before they launched.
It is easy to look back and say ‘nothing the size of Halo came out’, but the launch titles were all solid good games and there was some amazing work.
I would put this portfolio up against the original Xbox launch portfolio any day. I don’t see the fact that there wasn’t one game that everyone wanted to buy as a criticism. The strength was in the variety.

Becoming a Game Developer – Lesson 7
Gamer’s Hell :: Tuesday, February 28, 2006
“Well, it’s certainly been a while since I’ve talked about my progress at I decided to take a break from the GI course work to concentrate on graduating; I’m proud to announce that I have graduated and am now a certified Computer Science graduate. Since December I’ve been trying to find a job doing some programming or IT work but I haven’t found anything since this town is technologically inept. Lesson 7 is an entire chapter devoted to camera systems and has taken me quite a while to actually learn it. I had to hop online during the classroom meetings and ask Adam to explain it in different terms. After he finished it all sunk in, I finally understood what this chapter was about.”

NGOHQ :: Monday, February 27, 2006
Quote: “So in layman’s terms SLI is a method whereby you can throw extra video cards into your system so as to make it run faster whilst using higher quality settings. That is fantastic – how could any enthusiast not embrace such a feature?”

Xbox 360 Gaming Console Review
CoolTechZone :: Tuesday, February 21, 2006
“Whether Steve Ballmer’s kids get their hands on the Xbox 360 or not, we most certainly did and it looks…alright. We don’t know what the fuss is all about. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I am as excited about getting it as a teenager in a topless bar, but really, it’s just a box that plays games and I’d rather do that on my ferociously fast PC. The system is packed with AMD Athlon X2 4800+, A8N32-SLI motherboard, dual 7800GTX 512 in SLI, 2GB RAM and a 7,200 RPM SATA drive.”

DOA4 game review
Driver Heaven :: Wednesday, February 15, 2006

“Basically, Dead or Alive 4 is an extremely fast paced fighting game. Each character has around 100 unique moves that can string together some pretty hefty combos. The control layout is fairly simple; ‘Y’ is the default punch key, ‘B’ is used for kicking, tapping ‘A’ when close to an opponent tosses them into the air, while ‘X’ can help you block and counter attacks. Pressing the attack keys in conjunction with an analog stick movement can perform a special combo attack, and if you time your moves right it can be very easy to drain your enemy’s health without them even having a chance to fight back.”
