Well, having MS support an old product is really a moot point. The rest of the industry has moved on, too. You’ll be hard pressed to find a new driver for a GeForce 8800 for Windows 95 or Windows 3.1, or even DOS.
Besides, when was the last time you actually CALLED Microsoft for support? Most people find answers to their problems from the Internet or another source rather than calling Microsoft. When Microsoft says they’re ending support, that means they’re not going to be making any more service packs or updates, but by that time the product’s really as stable as it’s going to get. There’s still more than enough third-party information.
