boot loader

1. Also known as “bootloader” or “bootstrap loader”.   This is application code that runs when a digital electronic device is first started (booted).  This code is usually stored in nonvolatile memory and usually does not have an operating system, but is used by an external OS.  This code is normally a small program stored in ROM.
